OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – One person was killed and three were injured in the latest in a string of wrong-way crashes that have plagued the city over the last month.
According to News 9, a large passenger vehicle—possibly an SUV—was speeding east in the westbound lanes of Sheridan Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night when it ran out of roadway, hit a dirt barrier, crashed through a concrete wall, and finally overturned onto the railway tracks near the intersection of Reno Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard. One of the vehicle’s occupants was killed in the crash, while three others were injured.
Responding officers alerted dispatch to the obstruction of the tracks, and rail traffic was diverted until the wreck could be cleared.
Further investigations are ongoing.
