1 man dead, 1 hospitalized after truck flies off I-40 overpass near Hinton

HINTON, OK (CADDO COUNTY) – A man from Tennessee was killed and another man was injured after a semi-truck went off the side of the I-40 overpass near Hinton early this morning, according to KFOR.

The crash happened at 1:45 a.m. about a mile west of Hinton on eastbound I-40, when a 2020 Freightliner semi-truck went off the right side of the overpass. It fell about thirty feet before crashing into an embankment.

27-year-old Marquez McDowell, who had been riding in the sleeper compartment, was ejected 80 feet during the crash.

59-year-old Andre Hood, of Covington, Tenn., was pinned within the wreckage for about 20 minutes. He was extricated and taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

McDowell was taken to the hospital in Oklahoma City for the treatment of head, internal, and external torso injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash at this time.
