2 dead in 4-vehicle crash on I-35 in Kay County

KAY COUNTY, OK – Two people from Kansas were killed in an I-35 car accident involving four vehicles Tuesday, Jan. 4.

According to the Hutch Post, Xavier Mitchell, 22, was driving a Nissan Sentra northbound on I-35 south of Tonkawa, when he veered off the right side of the roadway into a barrier wall.

The vehicle struck three others on the interstate after the impact, including a Chevy Silverado, Ford van, and Kenworth semi.

Mitchell and a passenger in his vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was identified as 21-year-old Kyra Ray.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
