2 pedestrians fatally hit by driver while jaywalking in Edmond

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — Two men died Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing an Edmond road outside of a marked crosswalk, according to News Channel 8.

Edmond Police said the fatal incident occurred in a dark area of 33rd Street at around 10:00 p.m.

An early investigation indicates one man was pushing a man in a wheelchair across the road when a westbound vehicle hit both pedestrians.

Authorities confirmed the man in the wheelchair died from his injuries at the scene.

The other man suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver stayed after the crash and cooperated with responding officers. She was later released after questioning.

No further information has been disclosed at this time, but an investigation remains in progress.
