After two separate fatal car accidents in Oklahoma Monday morning, at least three people are dead.

An eastbound car driven by 24-year-old Sara Basquez was hit by another car when she failed to yield at a stop sign and crossed southbound traffic on Frink Chambers Road in McAlester. Basquez died of serious injuries sustained on the crash, while a passenger of Basquez and the driver of the other car were treated in a nearby hospital.

Another fatal car crash killed a young girl in a two-vehicle crash, on Southwestern Avenue, Sgt. Gary Knights reported. Sgt. Knights also reported that Renan Alfon Castellanos-Fortin also died after a pickup backed over him inside a parking lot at Burns Paving, Northeast Oklahoma.

Our thoughts and condolences at the Abel Law Firm go out to all those who have lost a loved one in these accidents or been harmed as a result.

Wrongful death lawsuit against Toys ‘R Us results in $20.6 million verdict

Toys ‘R Us was recently found liable in a wrongful death lawsuit filed on behalf of a victim of an accident involving an inflatable pool slide sold in their retail stores and online.

A jury ruled that the toy retailer pay the victim’s family $20.6 million because their product — which was imported from China — failed to comply with federal regulations concerning products sold in the U.S.

The 29-year old victim suffered serious neck injuries when the inflatable slide collapsed and she hit her head on the side of the pool.  The accident left her paralyzed and on life support.  The nature of her injuries led her to be taken off of life support and she passed away.
