Teenage girl, 3 adults dead in I-40 wrong-way collision in El Reno

EL RENO, OK (CANADIAN COUNTY) – A woman may have been intoxicated when she crashed her vehicle in a wrong-way crash near El Reno that may have resulted in the death of a teenage girl and three other people early this morning, investigators say.

According to KFOR, the accident happened on I-40 near El Reno at about 1:37 a.m. when Moore woman Ashley Louise Ricks, 33, crashed her 2017 Jeep Renegade into a 2003 Hyundai in a head-on collision. The Jeep landed upside-down into a nearby ditch, and the Hyundai collided with a median before catching on fire.

Authorities are attempting to determine if Ricks was intoxicated at the time, as she had been driving the wrong way on the highway for over 10 miles.

Three adults died at the scene. A teenage girl was taken to the hospital in El Reno, and there she was pronounced dead. All four victims were occupants of the Hyundai.

Ricks was brought to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, where she is receiving treatment for critical injuries, including those to the leg, arm, and internal organs.

Authorities are searching for anyone who may have information on the crash or on Ricks’ whereabouts last night.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.

Update: 19-year-old victim dies as result of Kilpatrick Tnpk accident, driver ID’d

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The drivers in yesterday’s wrong-way collision on Kilpatrick Turnpike have been identified, with one of the victims, a 19-year-old, dying from injuries sustained during the crash.

According to News on 6, one of the victims was Marissa Murrow, 19, who was sent to the hospital with critical injuries following the late-night crash near I-40. She later died there of her injuries.

The wrong-way driver, 39-year-old Malcolm Penny, was also taken to the hospital with severe wounds. He was later taken into police custody and is facing charges of driving while intoxicated.

Murrow was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority, which is raising money for her family’s medical and memorial expenses. They have already raised over $12,000 of their $15,000 goal.

Tulsa DUI suspect damages utility pole

TULSA, OK – Crews in Tulsa are working to repair an electricity pole after a suspected drunk driver drove into the pole early Monday morning.

According to News on 6, the collision occurred near the intersection of East Pine Street and North Urbana Drive shortly after 2:30 a.m. Police say the man drove into the pole before crashing into a fence close by.

Paramedics evaluated the driver at the scene before he was arrested and booked into jail on a suspected DUI charge.

No one else was injured as a result of the crash.

Suspected drunk driver arrested after being involved in fatal Oklahoma City crash

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Oklahoma City police have one suspect in custody in connection to a fatal crash southwest of downtown Sunday.

According to News 9, the collision occurred near the intersection of Southwest 29th Street and Villa Avenue. Police were in pursuit of a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Randy Sproles when Sproles ran a stop sign and was struck by a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Jose Medrano-Carrillo.

Sproles was killed as a result of the crash and his 19-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Medrano-Carrillo was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Witnesses say they spotted him racing just a few moments before the crash occurred. Officers also spotted open containers in his truck as well as visible signs of intoxication.

Upon his release from the hospital, Medrano-Carrillo was arrested on charges of first-degree manslaughter, driving without a state license, and DUI.

Broken Arrow man dies in speeding-related Wagoner Co. collision

OKAY, OK (WAGONER COUNTY) – A man from Broken Arrow died Saturday after a two-vehicle collision in Wagoner County that possibly involved excessive speeds and a driver under the influence, reports Tulsa World.

The accident happened on East 100th Street North, near Okay.

The victim is 26-year-old Tyler Smith of Broken Arrow, who was a passenger in a Camaro when the accident happened.

The driver of the Camaro was traveling at a high speed, then lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway. The Camaro then overcorrected, crossed over the center line, and went into the left lane. The Camaro then struck an oncoming 1997 Dodge pickup truck.

In the aftermath, Smith was pinned in the wreckage before emergency officials managed to extract him. He was pronounced dead at the hospital with injuries sustained during the crash that included wounds to the head and torso.

A passenger inside the Dodge was also taken to the hospital and later released.

The driver of the Camaro was taken to the hospital for the treatment of leg and torso wounds. They were reportedly under the influence at the time of the accident but are not recorded as having been charged with a crime.

Witnesses prevent woman from drunk driving with a child in her vehicle

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Two witnesses notified police of a visibly intoxicated woman attempting to drive her car with a small child Sunday.

The woman was stopped as bystanders watched her getting into her car with a child passenger at Lake Arcadia. According to Newsbreak, they were able to apprehend the woman long enough for police to arrive on the scene.

Body-camera footage shows the woman being arrested by Oklahoma Police. No charges filed against her have been made available yet.

Chickasha man faces charges after one dead, one injured in DWI rollover crash

CHICKASHA, OK – A man from Chickasha has been jailed on charges including first-degree manslaughter and DWI after a crash today that killed one person and injured another, reports KOKH.

Bradley Teakell, 22, of Chickasha, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter, driving while under the influence, and reckless driving after an accident today in the 2600 block of West Grand Avenue.

According to authorities, Teakell was driving a pickup truck at a high speed on W Grand Ave when he hit a set of railroad tracks. He lost control of the vehicle, and then ran off the road, hitting a light post. The pickup rolled over multiple times before stopping in an embankment.

The crash ejected Teakell and his two passengers, Chickasha woman Mary Martin, 37, and Ninnekah resident Jordan Jacobs, 30, from the vehicle, and pinned Jacobs beneath it.

Jacobs died at the scene.

Martin was sent to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to make a recovery.

The incident happened around 1:40 AM, April 25, in Pendleton Street. 19-year-old Michael Davis lost control of his 2018 Subaru and hit a culvert pipe, causing it to rollover. He was charged for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and violating other traffic laws. His two passengers were sent to Cortland Medical Center to get treatment.

A woman and her passenger were injured after a DUI collision, an April 16 article of Enid News & Eagle reported.

The incident happened at 4:52 AM Thursday, at the Cheyenne-Arapaho Campground. 37-year-old Ella Mae Turley was driving her 2006 Chrysler Town and Country when she went off the road and struck a tree. She was taken to Okeene Municipal Hospital with an injured arm. Also, her passenger 48-year-old Vincent Jack Peek was also taken to the same hospital. Authorities found the smell of alcohol on Turley, so they classified the incident as a DUI.
