Elderly man barely escapes Edmond house fire

EDMOND, OK – An elderly man was able to escape without sustaining a serious injury from his burning home in Edmond Tuesday night.

According to KFOR, the fire was reported on Tanglewood Drive near the intersection with Stepping Stone Trail sometime before 10 p.m.

Officials say the elderly man was asleep when the fire began to spread from the fireplace to the rest of the home. He was able to wake up and escape the house before the roof caved in a short time later.

No other details regarding the cause of the fire have been made available at this time.
