Kansas man killed in single-vehicle rollover crash in Kay County

KAY COUNTY, OK – A 28-year-old man from Kansas was killed in a rollover crash in Kay County yesterday morning, according to KFOR News.

The crash occurred about seven miles north of Newkirk on Highway 77 and County Road State Line Road at 6:24 a.m.

28-year-old Andrew Banta, of Arkansas City, Kans., was driving a 2016 Jeep Wrangler when he ran off the left side of the roadway. He then crashed into the center median, then struck a traffic sign. The Jeep rolled over several times, causing Banta to be ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Banta, who was not wearing his seatbelt when the crash occurred, may have been under the influence at the time of the crash.

No other people were injured in the accident.
