Nursing home staff members plead guilty to misconduct

At least two nursing home caretakers in Oklahoma recently pleaded guilty to several offenses that involved fraud and the abuse of a nursing home resident, News On 6 reported on June 21.

Reports said Marcia Nicole Alaniz, 34, pleaded guilty to assaulting a nursing home resident who suffered from a developmental disability. Alaniz also admitted to verbal abuse and harassment allegations. On the other hand, Christina Deann Whalen, 42, plead guilty to faking prescriptions of hydrocodone drugs. Whalen allegedly seized more than 5,000 doses of the controlled substance since 2011. The guilty pleas of the two nursing home staff members were announced on June 19.
