One dead, one in critical condition in rollover accident

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A woman is dead and a man hospitalized after their vehicle experienced tire failure and went off-road on I-40, as reported by Oklahoma’s News4.

The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon a half mile east of Douglas Boulevard. The victims’ 1994 Ford Ranger was reported to have rolled an unknown amount of times.

The passenger, Jessielyn Smith, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was taken to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center with serious arm and internal injuries.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol detected the odor of alcohol on the driver but did not record this as a cause of the crash.

Smith was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
