Texas man killed after being rear-ended by semi-truck in McClain Co.

PURCELL, OK (MCCLAIN COUNTY) – A man from Texas is dead after he was rear-ended by the driver of a semi-truck in an accident in McClain County Friday afternoon, according to KFOR.

The crash happened on southbound I-35 at about 4:30 p.m. when 56-year-old Antonio D. Retana, of Forney, Texas, swerved to avoid colliding with a construction site.

The driver of a 2013 Volvo semi-truck then hit the back of Retana’s car, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler.

Retana was pinned in the wreckage of the Jeep before being rescued by emergency crews and taken to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center for the treatment of critical injuries. He later died there of his injuries.

The identity of the truck driver, who was not reported as injured, was not revealed.

According to the report, distracted driving was the cause of the crash.
