1 dead, 1 hospitalized after head-on crash in Kay County

NEWKIRK, OK (KAY COUNTY) – One driver was killed and another was hospitalized as a result of a head-on crash in Kay County yesterday morning, according to information from OKC FOX.
The crash happened near Newkirk, less than a half-mile west of North Waverly and Oklahoma Highway 11 (W Doolin Avenue), when a driver headed eastbound went over the center line. There, they collided head-on with a westbound vehicle.
The wrong-way driver, a 55-year-old resident of Bartlesville, died at the scene.
The other driver, 88-year-old Ponca City resident Denver Gearhart, was hospitalized in reportedly fair condition.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
