YUKON, OK – A 15-year-old was mauled by a dog while walking with friends to get food near the intersection of West Vandament Avenue and Cornwell Drive in Yukon on Wednesday, reports KFOR.

According to officials, the dog first attacked some girls in the group, before the male teenager stepped in to protect them. While attempting to distract the dog, he was attacked and suffered serious injuries to his face.

At this time, it is unknown who the dog belongs to, or where it is.

Yukon police and Animal Welfare are working with the family in hopes of finding the dog, who is described as large and dark with a green or blue collar.

The boy’s mother has vowed to continue looking until it is found.
