PITTSBURG COUNTY, OK — Two people died Saturday evening after a single-vehicle rollover crash on the Indian Nation Turnpike near McAlester, according to KFOR.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the fatal wreck occurred on the northbound turnpike (OK-375). Troopers responded to the scene shortly after 7:45 a.m.

An early investigation indicates a 33-year-old man was driving a 2014 Jeep Patriot northbound when the vehicle collided with a deer. The impact of the crash caused the Jeep to travel off the roadway, where it struck a tree and overturned into a creek, ejecting the Jeep’s 28-year-old passenger.

Both the driver and his passenger died from their injuries at the scene, confirmed the OHP.

Authorities have not confirmed the exact location of the wreck, and no further information has been made available at this time.
