2 Midwest City men dead, woman hospitalized following I-40 wrong-way crash

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Two men are dead, and another person has been hospitalized following a wrong-way crash on I-40 early this morning, according to KFOR.

The collision occurred on I-40 near mile marker 166 at 3:37 a.m., as the driver of a 2015 Dodge pickup truck, 91-year-old Midwest resident Montrel Shipley, was headed eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway.

The Dodge crashed head-on into a 2005 Suzuki SUV being driven by 45-year-old Midwest City man Paul Flemings.

Shipley and Flemings were pinned for about 45 minutes within the wreckage before being extricated by emergency crews. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger was taken to the hospital for the treatment of internal torso injuries. She was not immediately identified.
