PONTOTOC COUNTY, OK — Six people, including four children, were injured early Monday after a collision on Oklahoma State Highway 99N near north Ada, according to KXII.

The accident happened at the intersection with County Road 1510, in an area about a mile north of the city.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 26-year-old Seminole resident was driving a pickup truck southbound on OK-99N. As she tried to turn eastbound onto CR-1510, the pickup veered into the northbound lane and collided with the front of an SUV. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles off the roadway.

The driver of the SUV, a 37-year-old Edmond woman, along with four child passengers aged 1, 6, 8 and 9, were all transported to Mercy Hospital. The 9-year-old child, who suffered internal injuries, was later airlifted to OU Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

Medics transported the driver of the pickup to Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, where the patient has since been treated and released.

Officials said the driver of the SUV and three of her children have also since been discharged from the hospital.

According to Oklahoma State Patrol, “failure to yield from a left turn,” caused the crash. All involved occupants were found to have been wearing a seat belt at the time.
