Arson suspected after fatal Tulsa fire

TULSA, OK – Officials with the Tulsa Fire Department responded to two fires at the same residence within just a few hours of each other Monday night.

According to News on 6, the first fire was a result of the resident falling asleep on the front porch with a lit cigarette at a home near the intersection of North Harvard Avenue and East Admiral court at about 7:30 p.m.

Neighbors attempted to pull the man from the porch but were too late. He succumbed to serious burn injuries shortly after.

Officials believe the fire was completely put out following the incident as they did multiple scans of the structure. However, hours later around 3:00 a.m. officials received another call that the structure was on fire again and beginning to damage nearby homes.

No other injuries have been reported as a result of the fire. Although, fire officials are investigating the second fire as suspected arson.
