Bicyclist killed after being rear-ended by driver in Guthrie

GUTHRIE, OK (LOGAN COUNTY) – A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a driver on Highway 77 near Guthrie yesterday afternoon, according to information from KFOR News.

The crash happened north of Guthrie on Highway 77 northbound near County Road 73 at about 1:41 p.m., when the driver of a 2013 GMC Sierra pickup truck failed to see a bicyclist, 52-year-old Edmond resident Richard Safi.

The driver, an 85-year-old woman, then crashed into the back of the bicycle.

Safi, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted to the hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
