Car strikes tree, kills woman and injures child

CREEK COUNTY, OK – A woman died and a child was seriously injured after their vehicle crashed into a tree near 6400 209th West Avenue, reports News 6.

Emergency crews responded to the area after receiving reports of a crash around 12:30 p.m. The car was traveling southbound when it  strayed from the road and slammed into the tree.

The force of the crash ejected the child, a 4-year-old, from the vehicle. Both the child and the mother, Hayle Burr, 24, of Tulsa, were taken to St. Francis Hospital. Burr died on the way to the hospital. The child’s condition is unknown at this time.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
