15-year-old girl in ICU after football goalpost falls on top of her

CYRIL, OK – A 15-year-old girl is in the ICU after a football goalpost fell on her and pinned her to the ground on Monday, according to KFOR.

Jenessa Thompson was posing for photographs with her cheer team when the goalpost came down on top of her, striking her in the head. It is unclear what caused the collapse.

Witnesses say that Thompson was unresponsive when she was pulled from beneath the post. She was taken to the OU Medical Center by helicopter, and was treated at the ICU for several injuries, including a possibly dislocated jaw.

As of Monday night, she was said to have been responding well to her treatment.

Fire department called after girl falls in hole, gets trapped

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma City Fire Department’s Heavy Rescue team were called to rescue a girl who fell into a hole behind a Oklahoma City residence and became trapped.

According to FOX 25, the incident happened in the 500 block of Southeast 71st Street Tuesday morning.

A woman reported the incident to police shortly after the girl fell.

Three in critical condition after SW OKC hazmat incident

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Three people were seriously injured in a hazmat incident in southwest Oklahoma City on Thursday, according to News on 6.

The incident occurred in the 1500 block of SW 82nd Street Thursday night, with hazmat teams called to the scene.

The victims were in serious condition with possible drug overdoses, according to the report.

Few details were released, though hazmat teams confirmed that there was not a gas leak.

The identities of the victims were not made available.

One hospitalized after being pulled from Oklahoma City river

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Emergency services southwest of Oklahoma City transported one man to the hospital after pulling him from the Oklahoma River Sunday afternoon.

According to KOCO, fire officials were called to the scene under a bridge close to Southwest 15th Street and Walker Avenue. They were able to pull the man from the water and begin treating him at the scene of the incident.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where his condition remains unknown as of Monday night.

Man rescued after falling into Oklahoma City ditch

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Officials with the Oklahoma City Fire Department rescued a man who had become stuck in a drainage ditch northwest of downtown Thursday afternoon.

The fire department received reports of the incident near the intersection of 45th Street and Independence Avenue at about noon, according to KFOR. Authorities believe the man intentionally crawled into the ditch. He soon began experiencing leg pain and was unable to move. He solicited the help of a passerby who called 911.

Firefighters pulled the man from the ditch. He refused to be treated by emergency services at the scene and left on foot.

4-year-old girl found in neighbor’s pool, taken to hospital

MOORE, OK – A 4-year-old girl was found in a neighbor’s swimming pool and then taken to the hospital for treatment of possible drowning-related injuries today, according to a report by KOCO.

The accident happened this afternoon in the 700 block of Southwest Fourth Place. The child was missing for about 15 minutes and was subsequently found in a neighbor’s pool.

Emergency officials performed CPR on the girl, and they were able to detect a pulse around 7 p.m. She was then taken to the Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

This is the third incident in a string of child drownings over the weekend.

Emergency crews battle fire at Southwest 14th and Southwest I Avenue in Lawton

LAWTON, OK. – The Lawton Fire Department was called to the scene of a structure on fire at Southwest 14th and Southwest I Avenue in Lawton yesterday. According to The Lawton Constitution, apparatus and teams from around the city were called to help battle the fire. Authorities have not yet released any details on what started the fire. We also do not know if anyone was hurt in the incident.

OU fraternity house catches fire

NORMAN, OK – A University of Oklahoma fraternity house was set ablaze early Friday morning, according to KOKH.

The fire began around 2 a.m. at the OU Delta Tau Delta house located at 1320 College Avenue. Authorities suspect that the blaze was caused by a lightning strike.

Multiple fire departments came to assist, according to the Norman Fire Department, due to another blaze happening at the same time diverting the department’s resources.

One person was inside the fraternity house at the time of the fire.

Potentially faulty stairwell at apartment complex in OKC blamed for injury

A man recently sustained injuries in southwest Oklahoma City after the stairwell at the apartment complex where he lives suddenly malfunctioned, an article of koco.com reported on August 26.

Reports said Kyle Williams lost consciousness on August 25 after falling through the staircase at the Country Club Apartments on S. Agnew Avenue. Kyle’s mother Dana told reports that she saw how the incident took place. Kyle was reportedly going up the stairs with his bike when the stairwell failed. Kyle sustained an injury to his ankle and is already in the recovery process. The apartment complex received complaints in July due to faulty stairs and walkways. City officials will conduct an investigation to figure out the cause of the accident.

Woman injured in Watergate Hotel parking garage collapse

The parking garage of the Watergate Hotel in Washington D.C. collapsed, resulting in the injury of one person, USA Today reported on May 1.

According to fire department spokesperson Timothy Wilson, three levels of the Watergate Hotel garage collapsed. The woman, whose name was not released in reports, was brought to the hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries. Reports revealed that the facility was undergoing construction when the collapse occurred. After an evacuation of the entire building, responding personnel confirmed that no other people were injured or missing on the premises. Watergate is well-known for the illegal activities in the 70’s that led to the resignation of late President Richard Nixon.
