CANADIAN COUNTY, OK — A 40-year-old man was hospitalized last Tuesday, August 2, after his vehicle knocked down a signal light pole in south Yukon, reports Yukon Progress.

Yukon Police responded to the scene at Garth Brooks Boulevard and West Vandament at around 8:15 p.m.

According to authorities, the man was driving a 2017 Dodge passenger van southbound when he suffered a medical emergency and went through the intersection at about 70-80 miles per hour. The vehicle veered into opposing lanes before hitting a curb, a traffic signal pole, and then a crosswalk light pole.

The driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with a leg injury, confirmed officials.

Following the crash, the intersection began operating as a four-way stop before a wooden pole with temporary lights was installed. A new metal pole is not expected to arrive for another 10 to 12 weeks.
