OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – An Oklahoma City firefighter is recovering in the hospital after being seriously injured in a residential fire northwest of downtown Wednesday night.

According to KFOR, the fire occurred within the 6200 block of Cambridge Drive sometime before midnight. Officials at the scene say the blaze was started between two outdoor generators but was beginning to spread to the homes.

The firefighter inhaled superheated smoke while performing ventilation tactics on the roof of one home. He was transported to Integris Baptist Medical Center in stable condition but worsened over time. He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit where he remains as of Thursday.
