GUTHRIE, OK – A detached garage and vehicle inside are a total loss after a fire in east Guthrie on Tuesday evening, reports the Guthrie News Page.

Officials with the Guthrie Fire Department say they arrived to battle the fire at a structure on the 700 block of N. Ash around 5:30 p.m. At the scene, firefighters found the garage fully engulfed in flames and rising dark smoke was visible even miles away.

Neighbors began using water hoses to prevent the fire from spreading to their homes.

The fire caused a nearby power line to break and fall to the ground, requiring firefighters to work with caution. However, once firefighters set up their equipment, the fire was extinguished within minutes.

The Guthrie Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire, though it is believed the vehicle inside could have been the source.
