Man faces multiple charges after fatal accident on Hwy 33

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The man responsible for the fatal car crash that took the life of Michael David McFarland, 30, faces multiple charges, reports Guthrie News Leader.

Troopers were dispatched to Hwy 33 and South Broadway around 4 p.m. on May 12 in response to an accident.

Michael David McFarland, 30, was heading west in a Ford Fusion on Hwy 33 when Richard Wayne Nyte, Jr., 40, allegedly strayed into oncoming traffic and struck McFarland’s vehicle. McFarland died from his injuries at the hospital.

Nyte was arrested by Hwy Patrol officers for being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. He has been charged with felony manslaughter in the first degree.
