Man facing multiple charges following police pursuit in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – A man is in custody following a police pursuit Friday night, according to News on 6.

The incident began when an officer attempted to stop suspect James Valdez after running his license plate and discovering it did not match the vehicle. Instead of stopping for the officer, Valdez sped away, driving the wrong way at one point, and running multiple traffic lights.

Valdez and a female passenger, who was not identified, left the vehicle near the intersection of Memorial and 31st Street before fleeing the scene on foot.

The two were taken into police custody soon after. While in custody, Valdez attempted to escape by slipping free of his handcuffs with the help of his passenger, but was unsuccessful. He was taken in later on multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, obstruction of justice, and evading the police.

No injuries were reported during the chase.
