Man leads police on pursuit after stealing ambulance with patient inside

SHAWNEE, OK – A man has been taken into police custody after stealing an ambulance with a patient inside and leading officers on a pursuit on I-40 yesterday.
According to KTUL, the accident happened on I-40, near Shawnee, when a person stole an ambulance while a patient was still inside. The male driver then led police on a chase, until he was stopped with the use of speed sticks.
The man attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was soon captured by authorities on Highway 27 near Okemah, about a mile south of the interstate.
The condition of the patient is unknown at this time.
