Moore man killed in single-vehicle crash on Turner Tpk near Wellston

WELLSTON, OK (LINCOLN COUNTY) – An elderly man from Moore was killed in a car accident on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County on Friday afternoon, according to information from KFOR News.

The collision happened east of Wellston on the eastbound Turner Tpk near mile marker 161 at around 4:41 p.m., after the 75-year-old driver of a 1951 Chevrolet pickup truck, Moore man Norman Drake, Jr., drove off the right side of the highway. There, his vehicle crashed into a barbed-wire fence and a dirt embankment before landing in a ravine nearby.

Drake was pinned within his vehicle for about three hours as a result of the crash. He was pronounced dead after the collision.

First responders were able to recover his body with the use of the jaws of life tool.

Authorities continue to investigate the accident at this time.
