The crash occurred on I-35, near 2nd Avenue and E Danforth Road, at about 6:15 p.m., when two drivers attempted to merge into the same lane.

The two vehicles swerved out of the way, but one of them rolled over the side of the highway as a result of the sharp motion.

The driver of the overturned vehicle was ejected during the crash, and was taken to the hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.

A passenger in the same vehicle, Jana Marchant, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was not reported as hurt.
