OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — A 40-year-old man was killed early Thursday when he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing Interstate 40 in east Oklahoma City, according to KOCO.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the scene on the westbound highway near Exit 127 to South Eastern Avenue (First American Boulevard/North Martin Luther King Avenue). The incident was first reported at about 12:20 a.m.
An early investigation indicates a 2022 Ford F-450 pickup truck was towing a 40-foot railer westbound on the interstate when its driver spotted the pedestrian on the roadway. Officials said the driver tried to avoid a crash, but the pedestrian was ultimately hit as he ran across the westbound traffic lanes.
The victim, of Porterville, California, died from his injuries at the scene, confirmed the OHP.
