OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Oklahoma City police have one suspect in custody in connection to a fatal crash southwest of downtown Sunday.

According to News 9, the collision occurred near the intersection of Southwest 29th Street and Villa Avenue. Police were in pursuit of a vehicle driven by 41-year-old Randy Sproles when Sproles ran a stop sign and was struck by a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Jose Medrano-Carrillo.

Sproles was killed as a result of the crash and his 19-year-old passenger was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Medrano-Carrillo was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Witnesses say they spotted him racing just a few moments before the crash occurred. Officers also spotted open containers in his truck as well as visible signs of intoxication.

Upon his release from the hospital, Medrano-Carrillo was arrested on charges of first-degree manslaughter, driving without a state license, and DUI.
