OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Firefighters responded to a fatal house fire in the Dodson Height area this morning, KFOR reports.

Emergency responders were alerted to a conflagration near the intersection of N Bryant Avenue and NE 18th Street shortly before 5 a.m. Firefighters arrived at the scene and conducted an initial sweep of the house, but could not find anyone present. However, a second search led them to a male resident who was suffering from severe smoke inhalation.

Paramedics transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he died later that moment.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze, but not before it damaged half the structure. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
