Fire at duplex in Paseo thought to be caused by cooking equipment

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to a fire at a two-story duplex in the Paseo neighborhood yesterday afternoon, according to KFOR.

The incident happened in the 100 block of NW 28th Street just after 12 p.m., and authorities believe was started by outdoor cooking equipment being used in a first-floor bedroom. A person experiencing homelessness may have been using the structure as shelter.

Nobody was found at the scene by authorities, and no injuries were reported.

OKC firefighters pull woman from four-alarm commercial fire downtown

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A woman was pulled from a serious commercial fire Wednesday evening, shortly before the building became completely engulfed in flames.

According to News 9, emergency crews were called to the scene at about 6:3o p.m. at a warehouse within the 800 block of Northwest 4th Street.

Firefighters worked to remove bars from a window to rescue a female victim who was trapped inside the building. She was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for unknown injuries.

It is still unclear what may have sparked the blaze.

Man hospitalized after Tulsa house fire on S.W. 74th St.

TULSA, OK – One man was rushed to the hospital after a residential fire in southwest Oklahoma City early Monday morning.

According to KFOR, the fire broke out at about 2:40 a.m. at a home near the intersection of Southwest 74th St. and Richmond Ave..

It took some time before firefighters were able to get the blaze under control. The extent of injuries sustained as a result of the fire is unknown at this time.

What may have sparked the fire is also unclear.

Man injured in OKC apartment fire after he falls asleep while cooking

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A man was injured after he fell asleep while cooking at an apartment in northwest Oklahoma City yesterday, according to News on 6.

The fire happened at Hayden Place Apartments on NW 10th Street, near N MacArthur Boulevard and N Rockwell Avenue, when a man fell asleep while he was cooking.

He was woken by the fire and was able to escape the blaze.

The victim suffered mild burn injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

No other people were reported as hurt.

The report states that some people were displaced as a result of the blaze, though it is unclear how many residents of the complex were affected.

Man found dead after shed in Oliver Park South area catches fire

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A man was killed when a shed caught fire in the Oliver Park South area this morning, according to reports by KFOR and the Oklahoma City Fire Department.

The fire occurred at S Shields Boulevard and SE 44th Street at about 7:50 a.m., when a shed caught fire.

A man who lived in the shed was found dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.

While initially witnesses believed that a second victim may have been inside the structure, a search of the shed revealed no other people inside.

The shed was destroyed as a result of the blaze, which also caused significant damage to a nearby RV.

Bystanders at the scene reportedly tried to help hose the fire down.

Arson investigators are searching for the cause of the blaze at this time.

Multiple duplex residents displaced after grass fire spreads to units

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A grass fire that spread to two duplexes last Wednesday has left multiple Oklahoma City residents without a home, according to KFOR.

One of the residents, Christin Williams, said she was at work when her boyfriend called and told her the house had caught fire. Her 3-year-old son and boyfriend were inside when they saw the smoke and fortunately were able to escape safely.

By the time Williams got home, the area was blocked off and she watched as the duplex burned.

Williams, her son, and her boyfriend also lived in the unit with her uncle but he was not home when the fire started. At the moment, she is staying with her mother while searching for their next home.

Williams said the damaged unit has been looted by several people after the fire.
