At least one person hurt in New Year’s crash west of OKC

YUKON, OK (CANADIAN COUNTY) – At least one person was hurt in a car accident in Yukon, west of Oklahoma City, on New Year’s Day, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred on eastbound I-40, near N Czech Hall Road at around 5 p.m.

At least one person was injured during the accident, though the exact number of victims and the extent of their injuries was not released.

OHP reported that the inside and middle lanes of the interstate were blocked as a result of the crash.

The cause of the accident was not immediately available.

According to officials, the accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Monday near the intersection of Northwest 23rd Street and MacArthur Blvd. The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian cooperated with police at the scene of the accident.

The victim was transported to a hospital for their injuries. At this time, no further information on their condition is available.

Two motorists injured after being shot in northwest Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Police say a driver and passenger were hospitalized after being shot at the Reserve Apartments in northwest Oklahoma City Wednesday afternoon, reports KOCO.

According to authorities, the driver and passenger were shot shortly after pulling up to the Reserve Apartments. The victims then drove away and called police from an OnCue near Northwest 10th Street and North Portland Avenue.

Police said the female driver is stable in condition, while the male passenger is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – An accident reported on SW 54th Street at S Portland Avenue caused traffic to backup for over an hour on Thursday, according to tweets by Total Traffic OKC.

The accident was first reported at the intersection of SW 54th St and S Portland Ave at 10:40 a.m. by TTN. The crash caused traffic delays in the area and was later cleared at about 12:10 p.m.

UPDATE: Pedestrian killed in NW OKC identified, driver arrested for murder and DUI

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The pedestrian victim of a fatal accident that took place in NW Oklahoma City early Monday morning has been identified, and the driver responsible for the accident has been arrested on charges of driving under the influence and murder.

According to News On 9, Oklahoma City Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Brittany A. Thompson. Thompson was walking westbound on Northwest Expressway with a friend, eventually passing through the median near Linn Avenue to pick up items off the roadway. Despite a warning about oncoming traffic from her friend, Thompson continued to step into the street, where she was hit by car traveling eastbound. Dennis Layden of the Oklahoma City Police Department said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, 25-year-old Anquanette Prince, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. After displaying signs of being under the influence, he was arrested on complaints of driving under the influence and murder.

KFOR reports that emergency responders were at the scene by 2 a.m. They pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

1 person critically injured, another hurt in 3-vehicle crash on I-40

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Two people were injured today, one of them seriously, in a multi-vehicle collision in central Oklahoma City, according to News 9.

The accident occurred near the interchange between westbound I-40 and I-44 this afternoon when three vehicles collided.

A man was rescued from the accident and taken to the hospital for the treatment of severe, life-threatening injuries.

Another person, a victim from a different vehicle than the first, was also taken in to be treated for non-critical injuries.

The accident caused authorities to close the roadways in the area for nearly an hour and a half.

Their investigation continues into the crash at this time.

CHICKASHA, OK (GRADY COUNTY) – A multi-vehicle collision in Chickasha resulted in the death of a man from Oklahoma City on Wednesday night, according to KOCO.

The collision happened on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike at about 10 p.m. as the victim, 60-year-old Pablo Chavez Otero, was being towed by another vehicle.

A car collided with Otero, leading to his death at the scene.

No other injuries were immediately reported in the collision.

OKC man dead after being pinned for 2 hours in Okmulgee County crash

HENRYETTA, OK (OKMULGEE COUNTY) – A man from Oklahoma City died after being pinned inside his vehicle for over two hours following a crash in Okmulgee County this morning, according to KTUL.

The accident happened on westbound I-40 near Henryetta when 37-year-old Oklahoma City man Leslye Moyd lost control of his vehicle.

The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, and Moyd overcorrected the vehicle, which caused it to roll over multiple times before colliding with a tree.

The car came to a stop on the left side of the vehicle, pinning Moyd within the wreckage for about two hours.

Despite fire officials using the jaws of life to extricate him, Moyd died at the scene. His cause of death is listed as severe internal injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the collision, which continues to be investigated at this time.
