A man and a woman were injured in a one-vehicle crash that took place in Muskogee on Friday.
47-year-old Herman Brown was driving south on 24th Street with 24-year-old passenger Tawanna Soap. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Brown’s car flew through the air after he ran off the road and through a ditch. The vehicle reached about 20 feet in the air before it hit a tree and landed back into the ditch.
Sheriff Charles Pearson arrived to the scene and smelled alcohol on Brown, as well as noticed alcoholic beverages in the vehicle. It has been reported that drunk driving was the cause of the accident.
Brown and Soap were taken to Muskogee Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.

A woman was arrested Thursday after driving into a pizza restaurant in Oklahoma City.
According to officials with the Oklahoma City Police Department, 63 year-old Michelle Fletcher was arrested for driving under the influence after she crashed her SUV into the front wall and windows of a Domino’s Pizza on MacArthur Boulevard Thursday night. Sgt. Paul Gaylon said it appeared the brakes of the SUV were never applied after the SUV turned into the Dominos’ parking lot.
The restaurant was closed when the accident occurred but there were people in the dog grooming school next door.
“We have a mess here,” Domino’s owner Linda Burgat said. Police say a heavy oven behind the counter stopped the SUV, but the oven and other equipment were badly damaged in the crash.
“It could have been a really, really unfortunate situation,” Gaylon said.
