Motorcyclist dead in alleged street racing crash in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – A motorcyclist was killed Friday night in an alleged street racing crash in Tulsa, according to KRMG.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. at the intersection of 51st Street and Memorial Drive. Police say that Fred Winters was drag racing when the collision happened.

Winters denies the allegation.

He has been taken into custody for charges of second-degree manslaughter.

The victim is Thomas Jalbert, 51, according to a briefing by News on 6, who died after being taken to the hospital.

According to police, Jalbert was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was speeding, but was not part of the race.

Police also say that coronavirus-related lockdowns may have contributed towards people wanting to get out and race on the streets.
