Authorities from the Oklahoma State Department of Health have brought to light alleged safety and health issues at a Mustang, Oklahoma nursing home. Reports state that the Mustang Manor Assisted Living Center has been cited for numerous unspecified nutrition and sanitation violations over the last two years. These issues have amounted to an excess of $35,000 in penalties and more are expected soon. Based on a February inspection, the OSDH allegedly discovered 27 health and safety code violations.
One woman reportedly noticed bruises on her 92-year-old mother, a Mustang Manor tenant, who claims that residents at the assisted living center are being starved. The woman stated that her mother had lost so much weight since her stay at Mustang Manor that her bones were protruding.
Officials from the Mustang Police Department have also received complaints of criminal activity at the Mustang Manor Assisted Living Center. Two nursing home employees were fired after the investigation of an embezzlement claim associated with the establishment.
