Deaf pedestrian injured in collision while crossing street in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – A deaf man was injured in a pedestrian accident while crossing a street in midtown Tulsa early Friday morning, reports KTUL.

According to Tulsa police, the collision occurred overnight near the near the intersection of East 41st Street and Memorial Drive. The driver remained at the scene of the crash and called police.

When officers arrived, they learned the victim was deaf and had begun to cross the road when he was struck.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of a potential concussion but is expected to recover.

Two pedestrians injured in construction zone accident in Crowder

PITTSBURG CO., OK – Oklahoma Highway Patrol say a 25-year-old Tulsa man and a 19-year-old McAlester man were injured after being struck by a vehicle in a Crowder construction zone on Tuesday.

According to Tulsa World, troopers say the collision occurred near Blocker Road and Hickory Hill Road around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. An 84-year-old driver from McAlester failed to yield to a traffic control personnel’s signs to stop at a one-lane construction zone, hitting the two men and a parked car.

The Tulsa man suffered serious internal and leg injuries and was taken by helicopter transport to a Tulsa hospital. The McAlester man was transported to a McAlester hospital for treatment of arm injuries.

The preliminary report stated the elderly driver was not injured. Troopers said inattentive driving was the cause of the collision.

Authorities ID victim of fatal Tulsa pedestrian accident

TULSA, OK – Authorities have released the identity of the man who was struck and killed in eastern Tulsa on Monday, Tulsa World reports.

This is an update to a previous post.

91-year-old Estes Riddle was attempting to cross Hudson Avenue and Admiral Place when he was struck by a motor vehicle. The vehicle stopped, at which point a second vehicle attempted to pass it and struck Riddle a second time. Both drivers called 911 and cooperated with police.

Emergency responders pronounced Riddle dead at the scene.

Neither driver has been charged, as Riddle was attempting to cross outside of a designated crosswalk.

Pedestrian killed in east Tulsa after being struck by two cars

TULSA, OK – A pedestrian died after being struck by two cars in eastern Tulsa yesterday evening, KJRH reports.

Tulsa police say that a man was crossing at the corner of East Admiral Place and North Hudson Avenue at 6:12 p.m. when he was hit by a small vehicle and then a sedan. He died on impact.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with police. An investigation was ongoing as of yesterday evening.

24-year-old man killed in pedestrian accident in Guymon on Christmas

GUYMON, OK – According to The Guymon Daily Herald, a 24-year-old pedestrian was killed after being hit by a semi-truck on Highway 3/US-412 near Guymon on Christmas day.

Officials say around 12:04 p.m. on Friday, December 25th, Zacarias Ortiz-Hernandez of Guymon was struck by a 2020 Kenworth semi-truck after he seemingly intentionally stepped into the roadway of Hwy 3/US-412 3 miles east of Guymon. The semi-truck driver, Timothy Calvert of Oklahoma City, exited to the left side of the highway after the collision.

Ortiz-Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. Calvert did not sustain any injuries.

Pedestrian fatally struck by pickup in Creek County

SAPULPA, OK (CREEK COUNTY) – A pedestrian was killed yesterday after being struck by a vehicle on I-44 in Creek County, according to KFOR.

The accident occurred on westbound I-44, near the exit ramp for W 56th Place S, at about 8:25 a.m.

63-year-old Russell Davis was struck by the driver of a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck, a man from Tulsa.

Davis died of massive injuries sustained during the crash.

The exact circumstances of the accident have not been revealed, though the weather is not considered to have been a factor.

Woman killed, driver facing charges in early-morning hit-and-run in S Tulsa

TULSA, OK – A woman in Tulsa was killed while crossing the street early this morning by a driver who then fled the scene of the crime, according to News 9.

The accident occurred at about 4:15 a.m. at the intersection of Peoria and 61st in south Tulsa. 61-year-old driver Alexis Lau allegedly struck a woman walking across the intersection.

The victim died of injuries sustained during the crash.

Lau allegedly failed to stop for the victim, but was later detained by Tulsa police and arrested for hit-and-run.

Lau was not reported as injured.

Pedestrian hit and killed by multiple cars at dimly-lit intersection in NE OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A man was killed after being hit by multiple vehicles in a dimly-lit area of northeast Oklahoma City last night, according to KFOR.

The accident happened before 9 p.m. near the intersection without streetlights, located at Stella and NE 36th St, when multiple vehicles hit a pedestrian.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been revealed, was discovered dead at the scene by a passing driver.

According to the report, the victim was wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident.

OKC authorities are investigating the fatal incident and are asking any possible witnesses to come forward.

Pedestrian killed in collision in Norman

NORMAN, OK – A motor vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in northwest Norman yesterday night.

According to KFOR, few details are available at this time. All that is presently known is that the fatal collision happened on 36th Avenue Northwest somewhere between Indian Hills Road and Franklin Road, a stretch that was closed by police as they investigated.

Bicyclist killed in Hughes County hit-and-run

WETUMKA, OK (HUGHES COUNTY) – A man riding a bicycle was killed Saturday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident in Hughes County.

According to the official Twitter account of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., about a mile and a half from Wetumka on State Highway 9.

The victim, Glenn William Herrod, was riding a bicycle on SH-9 when an unknown driver struck him, then fled the scene.

At this time, there is no description of the driver or their vehicle.

Police are requesting that witnesses or anyone with information regarding the collision contact the Oklahoma Highway Patrol at 918-423-3636.

The accident remains under investigation.
