3 dead, woman and teen injured in fiery rollover crash on Hwy 177

ASHER, OK (POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY) – Three people were killed, and two people, including a teenager, were injured following a fiery collision on Highway 177 in Pottawatomie County yesterday morning.

According to KFOR, the crash occurred on US-177, near Turkey Hill Road in Asher, at about 6:05 a.m., when a man driving a Nissan went over the center line and collided head-on with a 2010 Honda Odyssey.

The impact caused the Honda to spin out and the Nissan to overturn, landing upside-down in a ditch. The Nissan then burst into flames.

The driver of the Nissan and his passenger died in the crash. They were not immediately identified.

55-year-old Shawnee man James Chadwick Cravens, the driver of the Honda, also died as a result.

Two of his passengers, a 54-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy, both from Shawnee, were taken to the hospital via medical helicopter. The teenager suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident, while the woman sustained non-critical wounds.

Crash on I-40 causes delays and road closures in Pottawatomie Co.

DALE, OK (POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY) – A collision this morning on I-40 caused road closures and traffic delays in Pottawatomie County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.


The accident occurred near the community of Dale on eastbound I-40, near mile marker 180 and Bethel Road, at about 6:45 a.m.

The roadway was blocked as a result of the crash.

There was no word on possible injuries or on when the roadway would reopen.

The cause of the accident was similarly not released.
