According to a June 3 article of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Apple Inc. is recalling 222,000 units of portable Beats speakers after the company was notified of overheating incidents.
Reports said the Beats Pill XL compact speakers may potentially cause harm to users if the battery emits excessive heat, as it is prone to do. In the eight overheating incidents reported to Apple Inc., one resulted in a minor injury and another one resulted in a damaged desk. The capsule-like wireless speakers, which were also sold in Canada, were manufactured in China from 2014 to 2015. People who purchased the recalled Beats speakers are advised to contact Apple to get their money back.
