Recaro recalling thousands of child car seats in the US

More than 173,000 units of Recaro child car seats in the U.S. are being recalled by its manufacturer after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ruled that the products may cause additional injuries to children during crashes.

The NHTSA found that two models of Recaro child car seats are equipped with defective parts that may not properly support the upper portion of the child seats in case of collisions. The problem reportedly may occur if the occupant of the child car seat weighs 52 pounds or above. Recaro has decided to recall the child car seats after failing to meet the NHTSA’s federal safety requirements. Recaro will notify owners of recalled child car seats to receive a repair kit to address the problem.
