78-year-old pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by car in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – An elderly woman sustained life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle while she was crossing the street in Tulsa last night, according to FOX 23 News.

The accident occurred in the 8800 block of E 31st Street, in a dimly lit stretch of roadway, when a 78-year-old pedestrian attempted to run across the road.

She was struck by a driver who reportedly did not have time to avoid striking the pedestrian.

The victim was taken to the hospital for the treatment of critical, life-threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.

Deaf pedestrian injured in collision while crossing street in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – A deaf man was injured in a pedestrian accident while crossing a street in midtown Tulsa early Friday morning, reports KTUL.

According to Tulsa police, the collision occurred overnight near the near the intersection of East 41st Street and Memorial Drive. The driver remained at the scene of the crash and called police.

When officers arrived, they learned the victim was deaf and had begun to cross the road when he was struck.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of a potential concussion but is expected to recover.

Okla. Trooper hurt in snowy New Year’s Day accident in Tulsa

TULSA, OK – An Oklahoma State Trooper was injured after a driver collided with his police cruiser in Tulsa on New Year’s Day, according to KTUL.

The accident occurred on the Will Rogers Turnpike at about 10 a.m., when a driver left their cruise control set on 75 mph while driving on the slick roadway. The driver lost control of the car, then collided with the vehicle of an Oklahoma State Trooper.

The Trooper was taken to the hospital and treated for non-critical injuries. He is expected to make a recovery.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Authorities reminded drivers to slow down while traveling during wintry weather conditions.

The collision occurred near the intersection of N Pine and Peoria at about 7 p.m., when the driver of a Chevy Tahoe made a turn and collided with the motorcyclist.

The motorcycle was reportedly not equipped with a light, leading to its operator wearing a headlamp for visibility.

The motorcyclist, who has yet to be publicly identified, was brought to the hospital for the treatment of severe wounds.

The driver of the Tahoe was not reported as hurt.

Fire truck hit, 50 other accidents in Tulsa since Sunday

TULSA, OK – Officials with the Tulsa Fire Department say icy road conditions contributed to a fire truck being hit Sunday night, and that fire crews have responded to roughly 50 accidents since Sunday morning, reports News on 6.

Andy Little with the Tulsa Fire Department said a driver lost control of their vehicle due to the icy conditions and slammed into the fire truck Sunday night. He further stated the firefighters in the crash were fortunate to have not sustained injuries.

Little also noted that in addition to the roughly 50 accidents responded-to by Tulsa Fire Department, there have likely been other crashes that were not reported or responded to.

Officials remind motorists to drive slow and give extra attention to emergency vehicles on icy roads.

Driver killed after crashing into tree during Sunday snow storm in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE CO., OK – A driver was killed during Sunday’s snow storm after crashing their vehicle into a tree near the Welling Road and County Road 543 intersection, reports News on 6.

Authorities identified the victim as 58-year-old Donald Wynn. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the vehicle exited the right side of the roadway and struck a tree near the Welling Road and County Road 543 intersection. The crash occurred around 12 p.m. Sunday during a snow storm.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol further stated that an excessive speed for the road conditions caused the vehicle to exit the road and crash.

Wynn arrived at a nearby Tahlequah hospital in critical condition. He was then transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was declared deceased on arrival.

House fire in Sand Springs kills family pets, injures four people

SAND SPRINGS, OK – A house fire in Sand Springs this morning forced four people into the hospital and resulted in the death of their pets, according to FOX 23 News.

The blaze started in the living room of a home in the 500 block of N Franklin Avenue at about 7 a.m., and caused the roof and back portion of the building to collapse.

A neighboring building sustained some damage from the flames.

Four residents, who have yet to be publicly identified, were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The family pets, unfortunately, perished in the fire.

Broken Arrow man killed in Tulsa collision

TULSA, OK – A 71-year-old man from Broken Arrow was killed yesterday in a crash that happened near downtown Tulsa, according to Tulsa World.

Joaquin Vargas Conty was traveling west on I-244 when his Ford Fusion collided with another passenger vehicle near Peoria Avenue. Conty died as a result of the collision, while the other driver—a woman from Kansas—was unhurt.

Both motorists were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

2 injured after driver crashes into Tulsa dining room while victim sitting inside

TULSA, OK – Two people were taken to the hospital in Tulsa after a man drove through a person’s home, and into their dining room on Friday, according to FOX 23 News.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Pine Street and MLK Jr. Boulevard on Friday afternoon, after the driver of a white Chevrolet SUV lost control of his vehicle.

The SUV crashed into the victim’s dining room while they were inside. The victim was then struck by debris sent flying by the collision.

The driver and victim, both of whom have yet to be publicly identified, were taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. They are expected to make a recovery.

OKC man dead after being pinned for 2 hours in Okmulgee County crash

HENRYETTA, OK (OKMULGEE COUNTY) – A man from Oklahoma City died after being pinned inside his vehicle for over two hours following a crash in Okmulgee County this morning, according to KTUL.

The accident happened on westbound I-40 near Henryetta when 37-year-old Oklahoma City man Leslye Moyd lost control of his vehicle.

The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, and Moyd overcorrected the vehicle, which caused it to roll over multiple times before colliding with a tree.

The car came to a stop on the left side of the vehicle, pinning Moyd within the wreckage for about two hours.

Despite fire officials using the jaws of life to extricate him, Moyd died at the scene. His cause of death is listed as severe internal injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the collision, which continues to be investigated at this time.
