A July 14 article of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) revealed that Ikea has issued a recall to estimated 80,000 units of their safety gate extensions and safety gates due to concerns that children may suffer injuries if the locks suddenly fail.
Ikea reportedly issued a recall to their safety gates after receiving 55 complaints of locking mechanism failure. At least 10 incidents worldwide resulted to various physical injuries where four of which happened in the U.S. The official website of the Consumer Product Safety Commission has listed the six affected “PATRULL” safety gate models including its article numbers. Consumers were told to immediately avoid using the defective safety gates and Ikea is expected to give their money back.
