American toy retail company Toys “R” Us is recalling a certain model of Tonka trucks after being notified of an incident where a vehicle in Washington suddenly caught fire, an article of News Channel 8 reported on November 21.
Reports said on November 18, a couple decided to buy their grandson a battery-operated Tonka dump truck for a Christmas gift. The toy, which was bought at a Toys “R” Us branch, was placed at the back of the couple’s vehicle and caught fire while on their way home. The incident had prompted the retail toy store to immediately remove similar Tonka trucks from their shelves and online postings. In a statement, the company told reports that they were investigating the incident even though it was considered an isolated case. Toys “R” Us is also coordinating with Tonka toy manufacturer, Dynacraft, to figure out the cause of the fire.
