CUSHING, OK (PAYNE COUNTY) – A woman is dead and her passenger is in critical condition after a vehicle collided with a tree near Cushing early this morning.

According to KFOR, the collision occurred in the 3600 block of N Norfolk Road at 4:36 a.m., when 35-year-old Felicia Bradley, operating a 2009 Pontiac G6, went off the right side of the roadway.

Bradley overcorrected the vehicle, causing her to veer off the left side of the road and collide with a ditch. The vehicle was sent into the air before it slammed into a tree.

Bradley was trapped within the wreckage for about two hours, before fire officials managed to recover her body. She died at the scene.

34-year-old Christy Lowe, a passenger, was ejected during the crash. She was airlifted to the hospital in Tulsa with multiple life-threatening injuries, including those to the head and internal organs.

Both victims were not wearing their seatbelts when the collision occurred.

Authorities believe that alcohol may have played a role in the accident, though the investigation continues at this time.
