Monday, a 31-year old woman was killed in a car accident near Seminole. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on SH 3 shortly after 11 a.m.
Police reported that a driver traveling in the southbound lanes of the highway swerved over the center line and crashed head-on into the woman’s northbound vehicle. The victim’s 2003 Pontiac Vibe flipped and rolled once, and the southbound driver’s 2010 Mercury Milan rolled 3 times. Both drivers were unable to exit their vehicles after the accident.
The Seminole Fire Department responded to the accident and extricated the drivers. The 31-year old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and a passenger in her vehicle was taken to Seminole Medical Center for treatment of a leg injury. A 1-year old in the Pontiac was flown to OU Children’s Hospital for observation.
Officials with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department, Seminole Police Department, and Seminole Fire Department are investigating the accident and the driver of the Mercury’s condition at the time of the accident. The driver was flown to OU Medical Center with serious injuries.
