Motorcycle officer dies after multi-vehicle collision in SW Edmond

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — A motorcycle officer with the Edmond Police Department was fatally hurt Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash near southwest Edmond, reports KOCO.

The fatal accident happened on the Broadway Extension at Comfort Drive, between 33rd Street and Memorial Road, near the Oklahoma City-Edmond line. It was first reported shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Edmond Police did not disclose the circumstances behind the crash, but the officer was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital.

By 4:50 p.m., officials confirmed the patient had died from his injuries.

The accident created a heavy traffic backup on Broadway Extension following the crash and during the response.
