OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — Authorities responded to an injury accident Wednesday morning on 15th Street near Spring Creek Plaza in southeast Edmond, according to TTN Oklahoma City.

The collision occurred east of South Bryant Avenue. It was reported by EMSA-PulsePoint first responders at 8:35 a.m.

At this time, it remains unclear what events led up to the crash or how many vehicles were involved.

Motorcycle officer critically hurt in crash during Edmond pursuit

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — An Edmond Police Department officer was critically injured last Friday when a DUI suspect struck his motorcycle during a chase in Edmond, according to KOCO.

The wreck occurred on a span of South Boulevard between Memorial Road and 33rd Street, near Oklahoma Christian University.

Authorities said the suspected intoxicated driver was making a U-turn during the pursuit and hit the motorcycle officer, causing him to be thrown from the bike.

Medics rushed the officer to OU Medical Center, where as of Monday, he remains in critical condition while on “maximum life support.”

The fleeing driver, who was said to have caused multiple other crashes before the motorcycle crash, was also transported to a local hospital. No details on the extent of his injuries have been released.

Investigators noted that at one point during the pursuit, the officer fired a shot at the suspect but missed. No other details have been shared at this time.

Multiple teens apprehended after TVI crash on OK-74 near west Edmond

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — Four juveniles were taken into custody early Wednesday after a crash caused by a tactical vehicle intervention in west Edmond, according to News On 6.

The maneuver was carried out on Oklahoma Highway 74 (Portland Avenue) near West Edmond Road, shortly after 1:05 a.m.

Edmond Police said the events first unfolded at West 15th Street and Fretz Avenue, where officers tried to pull over a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle sped away, prompting a pursuit.

Officials said as the fleeing vehicle began traveling at high speeds, officers conducted the TVI, causing the vehicle to crash as it came to a stop.

Six occupants fled the scene on foot, but officers were able to apprehend four people, including the driver.

Edmond Police said the driver faces multiple charges, including “driving under the influence” and “felony eluding.”

A male passenger and two female passengers also face several charges each.

While the teen driver was arrested, the passengers were released to their guardians.

An investigation remains ongoing, and charges are expected to be filed.

Teen driver hospitalized after semi hits, drags car on I-35 in Edmond

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — A 19-year-old man was hospitalized Monday morning after a major crash involving a semi-trailer on Interstate 35 in Edmond, according to KOCO.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said the collision occurred near East Memorial Road shortly after 7:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates the young man was driving at a high rate of speed when he veered into another lane. Moments later, a semi-trailer rear-ended his car.

The impact of the crash caused the car to become wedged under the 18-wheeler. Officials said the car was dragged over a span of the highway before the semi came to a stop on a shoulder.

The young man, who suffered a broken collarbone and multiple cuts and bruises, was transported to a local hospital but has since been released. He is expected to make a recovery.

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — A 17-year-old Edmond North High School student has died after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle Thursday morning in Edmond, reports News9.

The fatal accident occurred near the corner of West Covell Road and North Kelly Avenue.

An early investigation indicates a minivan was traveling near the intersection when its driver tried to turn into the Lowe’s Home Improvement store. Moments later, the teen’s motorcycle struck the van.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries the next day.

UPDATE: Driver was impaired during crash that killed Edmond officer

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — A 54-year-old driver was found to have been impaired last Tuesday, July 19, during a crash that killed a motorcycle officer in Edmond, reports FOX25.

The fatal wreck occurred at the intersection of Broadway Extension and Comfort Drive, at about 3:00 p.m.

An early investigation shows the suspect was driving a utility truck when he crashed into a group of vehicles at a red light.

A 38-year-old Edmond police officer, who was on a marked motorcycle among those vehicles, suffered serious injuries in the collision. He was rushed to OU Medical Center where he later died.

No other injuries were reported.

The suspect told a responding officer he was fatigued and driving too fast to stop his truck in time.

Officials said preliminary blood tests indicate amphetamine and methamphetamine were present in the suspect’s system at the time of the crash. Other results are still pending.

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — A 38-year-old Edmond Police Department officer died Tuesday after his motorcycle was hit by a utility truck in southwest Edmond, reports The Oklahoman.

The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Broadway Extension and Comfort Drive, at around 3:00 p.m.

According to authorities, a 54-year-old man was driving a utility truck when he collided with a group of vehicles, including the officer’s motorcycle, at a red light.

The officer suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.

Edmond Police said later that day, officers arrested the truck driver on a murder complaint.

It was unclear whether anyone else was injured.

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, OK — A motorcycle officer with the Edmond Police Department was fatally hurt Tuesday afternoon in a multi-vehicle crash near southwest Edmond, reports KOCO.

The fatal accident happened on the Broadway Extension at Comfort Drive, between 33rd Street and Memorial Road, near the Oklahoma City-Edmond line. It was first reported shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Edmond Police did not disclose the circumstances behind the crash, but the officer was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital.

By 4:50 p.m., officials confirmed the patient had died from his injuries.

The accident created a heavy traffic backup on Broadway Extension following the crash and during the response.
